#RedsUpdate Off day 5/22

Image

Well the Cincinnati Reds have an off day, I’am lost when they have a off day. Their is not much other Baseball today either. So with that said today we are going to take a look at the Cincinnati Reds upcoming schedule.

Reds are a season High 29-18 and 1.5 Games back from the 30-16 St. Louis Cardinals. I still believe come September these two, Baseball clubs will be battling it out for the NL Central title, it’s going to be fun to watch.

REDS SCHEDULE

May 24-26 ( Weekend series ) Vs the Chicago Cubs ( 18-27 )

May 27-28 ( Monday & Tuesday ) Vs the Cleveland Indians ( 26-19 )

May 29-30 ( Wednesday & Thursday ) at the Cleveland Indians

May 31, June 1,2 ( Friday, Saturday, Sunday ) at the Pittsburgh Pirates ( 28-18 )

* The Reds are coming off a 7-2 Road Trip, They are 13-12 overall. Pretty Good since they started the season at a whopping 1-8.

* Reds are 16-6 at home ( Best start at Home since 1994 I believe )

This Choo Guy ever heard of him? If you’re in Cincinnati you have. This guy is a on base machine. Choo has a .449 OBP ( On base Percentage ), Only Votto has a better OBP .484. Choo has a 3 slash line of .300/.449/.539 pretty good for a lead off guy huh.

Reds upcoming Pitching

Friday RHP Bronson Arroyo ( 4-4, 3.28 ) vs RHP Scott Feldman ( 4-3, 2.19 )

Saturday RHP Homer Bailey ( 2-3, 3.09 ) vs RHP Travis Wood ( 4-2, 2.24 )

Sunday RHP Johnny Cueto ( 2-0, 3.22 ) vs RHP Matt Garza ( 0-0, 0.00 )

Today were are going to take a look at the Reds first five week’s of play. The Reds have a 19-15 record. They set, two game’s back of the 20-12 St. Louis Cardinals. The reds have five walk off, out of their 13 home wins. The 3 slash line for Reds at home .264/.344/.427 and 22 Home runs at Great American Ball Park. They have won all five series they have played at G.A.B.P. 2-1 vs LLA, 2-1 vs WASH, 3-0 vs PHI, 3-1 vs MIA, 2-1 vs CHC.

Two of the bright spot’s of the Cincinnati Reds Lineup have been, CF Shin Soo Choo. Choo has been a on base machine for the Reds, Choo has a 3 slash line of .333/.465/.587. Choo  also lead the league in Hit-By- Pitches with eleven of them. Choo has also hit 7 Home runs and has 15 RBI.  The Other bright spot of the Reds offense is second baseman Brandon Phillips. Phillips has 3 slash line of .281/.324/.461, has 5HR, along with 29RBI.

The Reds have one of the best rotation’s in baseball Homer Bailey, Bronson Arroyo, Mike Leake, Tony Cingrani, Mat Latos. Johnny Cueto has been hurt but the Rookie Tony Cingrani has been a nice addition to the Reds pitching staff. Cingrani has had four start’s ( 24.1 IP, 7R, 7ER, 5BB, 30K). He is also a Left Hander with an above average fastball. Mat Latos has been light’s out for the Reds, since they picked up from the Padres. Latos this year has 3-0 record, along with a 2.23 ERA.
