New Gig At 27outsbaseball.com

I’m happy to announce I will be taking on an editor’s role for 27outsbaseball. I ready to see where this new adventure will take me.

I never would have thought that I would be taking on a role like this. When I first started earlier this year, I just wanted to be a writer. I guess 27outs had other ideas. Which I’m ok with that.

This also means more of a workload for me since I’m also an full-time college student. I will be pouring over a lot of MiLB Team’s 2016 schedule in the coming week to see what games I want to cover. If you want any game covered just let me know, and I will try to make it happen.

I know for a fact, that I will be traveling to Louisville and Indianapolis for a series. Just haven’t figured out which ones yet. I also will be doing more Dayton Dragons games. I got big plans for both this site and 27outs for the 2016 season.

I also plan on attending Tribe fest. I feel like that could be great networking with the Indians. I’m also planning on diving in more on the Triple-A level then just the Columbus Clippers.

There is also a Triple-A podcast that is in the works with 27outs. Myself and Chris Hogan will host that. Be on the look out for that. We are hoping for January start date.

I find this to be a pretty big achievement for myself. Also be on the lookout for more MiLB pictures from the wife in 2016. I plan on using her as my photographer. In other news. I found that i have taking a interest in Hiking. So there will probably be some pictures and post about hiking on here from time-to-time.

Chasing My Dreams

Dear Readers,
I’m writing about my passion in this letter, because I think it’s important to follow your dream no matter what. Let me tell you a little about my dream which I’m living every single day I wake up. Baseball has always been a passion of mine and always will be. Ever since high School I wanted a job in baseball.

While I haven’t made it to the major league’s yet, I have made to the Minors.
Earlier this year, I started writing for 27outsbaseball.com which covers Minor League Baseball. I live in Ohio so I now cover the Columbus Clippers, which are the Triple-A affiliate team of the Cleveland Indians. When I started at 27outs, I felt I wasn’t qualified to cover a professional team. I started about mid-way through the season and haven’t looked back since.

I have interviewed current major league baseball players, ex-MLB players, and current MiLB managers. I had the opportunity to interview Nick Swisher before he was traded to Atlanta. That was my first big interview. But in the end, it ended up being just like any other interview. I have a new respect for the player’s and for the game of baseball.

I’m not writing this to rub it in or say I’m better then anyone. I’m writing this to encourage you to chase your dreams no matter what any else says. I also decided to go to college this year. That’s a pretty big deal as well. I’m the first one in my family to attend college. Keep chasing those dream and they will come true.

They might even change your outlook on life. I know my goals have changed this year. I’m really happy covering the Minor Leagues. If I never make it to the Major’s I will be ok with that. I will finish with this. Every time I step foot in a ballpark, I’m thankful and blessed. I get to do what I love which is cover baseball.
Sincerely yours,

Richie DeVotie
